Fusible plugs are thermally actuated pressure relief devices that can be utilized in a wide variety of applications. Precision Aero parts are in systems where it is necessary to relieve pressure at a predetermined temperature. Some current applications include aircraft wheels, aircraft hydraulic systems, aircraft evacuation systems, and land based transportation systems.
Our fuse plug manufacturing includes proprietary processes, utilizing specialized thermal fusible material.
A fusible plug consists of a plug body that has a port with a thermally activated material. Our thermal materials are designed to melt at very specific temperatures. When the temperature of the fusible plug reaches it’s designed activation point, the fusible material melts out of the plug body allowing pressure to escape through the now open port.
Precision Aero fusible plugs can be designed using a wide variety of body materials and thermal fillings. The configuration can be customized to your application/ design with appropriate melting temperature, port size, and installation and sealing configuration.
